Leather Alchemy: Energies & Dynamics in Leatherplay
Ruin, International Community Bootblack 2012
Northwest Community Bootblack 2012
Technical proficiency is an important part of good leathercare, but you can get that from
a dry cleaner or a cobbler. What about when you're looking for a deeper experience?
When what you want is more than just clean boots and well-conditioned leather,
where do you go? How do you receive or provide leathercare that extends beyond the
technical?
In our lifestyle, we have opportunities to experience many beautiful, fascinating,
and intense energies. We play with a variety of dynamics in the dungeon and in the
bedroom, from light-hearted to cathartic. So why not on the bootblacking stand? This
workshop will explore ways to bring different dynamics and energies to leathercare.
We will look at the roles of both the leather-wearer and the leather caregiver, and how
each can facilitate something more profound than just another shoe shine. Pride and
humiliation, pain and ecstasy, power and surrender, can all be yours via leather and a
pair of willing hands.
This class is taught in a lecture & demonstration format. All are welcome, regardless of
how you identify. This class is not only for bootblacks. Previous leathercare experience,
and bootblack kits are not needed.

Something to talk about! Interpersonal Skills on the Stand
Ruin
You can bring a pair of boots to a glossy shine blindfolded & with your hands tied behind your back. But when it comes to talking with the person in those boots, you're not quite as confident.
Just like the technical skills required to be a good bootblack, no one is born knowing how to make witty conversation with a stranger. Add to that having to also provide a service, likely in a dark, loud, and crowded bar, and it becomes very tempting to keep your head down and your mouth shut.
This class will explore ways to get people in your chair, and how to facilitate enjoyable conversation once they're there. We'll also look at negotiating more than a shoe shine, on and off the stand. What about when someone wants more than you want to give, or makes you uncomfortable during a bootblacking? We'll cover that too! This will be a jam-packed hour. Bring an open mind and a willingness to participate.
Appreciating the Femme Foot
Annamarie, Professional Educator
In this workshop we'll be diving into the intense enjoyment of the femme foot and how to build scenes that incorporate foot play and those that are centered on foot fetishism. Learn how to pick the right heels, what kinds of sensations we can give with heels and feet, how to kick in high heels, footing, and so much more! There will be live demonstrations of everything discussed.
The Economics of Bootblacking
Dylan, Producer Boot Weekend
Northwest Community Bootblack 2011
This discussion is oriented for event producers, volunteer organizers, and bootblacks alike.
I will cover everything from what a bootblack does to how to negotiate a deal between any two parties that leaves everyone feeling respected and appreciated. What ways can a bootblack help you or your event? What is the function of titleholders in the bootblack world? How do you discuss finances? Many discussions can go smoother after learning some of the basics and intricacies of the bootblack realm and mutual respect is the grease that makes it all shine. Bring your questions, ideas, and an openness to hear about it from someone who works on both sides of the fence.

Knot another Lacing class!
Nick Elliott, International Mr. Bootblack 2012
2011 Oregon State Bootblack
_Ever had someone in your chair ask you to re-lace your boots a different way? Even called a specific lacing style that you didn’t know? Don’t know which style of ladder lacing to use with a particular length of shoelace? Well, by the end of this hands-on class –hopefully you will.
Taken from the wildly popular book by Ian Fieggen (or Professor Shoelace) – “100’s of Ways to Pimp your Kicks” – we will cover various lacing techniques for different styles of boots including the more traditional criss-cross and ladder styles, as well as some trickierones such as the zipper, zig-zag and star. For thetruly nerdy amongst you, there will even be algebraic formulas for how long your lacesneed to be for a given style, helpful if you need to cut a new length of shoelace.
We are Knot finished though – you can’t really tie a shoelace without a Knot, so we will also cover a few different ways of finishing off your lacing including a traditional, a surgeons knot, and even Ian’s custom developed Knot.
Last, if you ever have frayed shoelace ends, we will cover a couple of different techniques for creating aglets (the hard end of the shoelace).
The whole class will be interactive and hands-on. Participants are encouraged to bring boots and/or laces they would use to try different lacing styles. I will be inviting people to share their favourite lacing styles and knots so that we can learn from each other.

Ritual Service
Henry James, International Community Bootblack 2006
Webster’s defines service as an act of helpful activity. That helpful act can evolve into daily practice or
specialized ritual within our D/s dynamics. This class will examine the means that we can take to elevate
our acts of service to ritualized practice and explore the joy and freedom that can be found within.
Class will include active discussion followed by a demonstration. These rituals can take many formats.
For the purpose of this class, we will focus on boot and valet service.

_Feeling It Through My Sole
Scout, Northwest Community Bootblack 2010
This informative class covers stomping and kicking techniques for all boot worshipers and boot worshipees! Have a heavy boot scene in mind?
