Brief Boot Weekend History
Special thanks to Ms. Julie for her generous donation of the first space we used at The Conservatory and to the PDX Bootblacks for being the inspiring force! The first Boot Weekend benefited the Leather Archives and Museum and The Tony DeBlase Scholarship Fund with 100% of it's earnings and was held from May 6th-May 8th, 2011 in Portland, OR.
Sir Hugh is to thank for this wonderful event as it was his desire to move the boot fetish and boot player communities forward together while also showing what relationship bootblacks have to the community, and especially highlighting the unique one that Portland, Oregon has.
As the event changes each place it goes--it is up to you what it can be, what you can learn, and what fun is to be had. Dylan has kept the spirit of the event alive in the Northwest for the last two years and hopes to see it evolve again in the next year or two.
Boot Weekend 2012 was held in Seattle, WA and here is the original press release :

Bootweekend 2013 AKA Northwest Boot Weekend 2013 took place in Portland, OR. The kickoff fundraiser for Bradley Angle House along with the opening ceremonies took place at Crush Bar in SE Portland. THe night brought silent auctions, raffles, and lots of bootblacks and boot lovers together to begin the weekend right; with a hot DJ to dance to and many new faces to meet.
Classes took place at The Sindicate and spanned two classrooms and several talented teachers from around the US. Dirty Playground hosted us at their quarterly party and hot debauchery was had by many. The wrap up brunch was at Sunshine Tavern. Despite them dropping the reservation ball, the food was good and the wrap up sweet. 2013 was the first year presenters were compensated and hopes to be setting foot for that to continue.
Bootweekend 2014 will not be held but BootDAY 2014 will hold it's place in Seattle, WA with Paul, the current International Community Bootblack hosting a day of classes as his fundraiser and as a way to keep the spirit warm for Boot Weekend 2015 to return next year. Keep your eyes peeled on Fetlife https://fetlife.com/groups/45560 and here for more info as it comes available.
Always the goal of Boot Weekend is to bring together boot lovers, boot wearers, leather craftspeople, cordwainers, cobblers, shoe shines, bootblacks and leather fetishists, their admirers, and the curious. A Play party usually wraps up the days of classes and puts the knowledge to the pavement to make for a steamy night of adult rated fun.
Informal brunches, bar nights, and other outings, such as to Wesco, Langlitz Leathers, Oregon Leather Company, and Danner boots -to just name a few local boot destinations promise to shoe those who love this world all that the Northwest has to offer.
